Norway Receives 82 Applications for Sovereign Wealth Fund CEO Position, Including Incumbent

Norway's central bank has received 82 applications for the CEO role of its vast sovereign wealth fund, with incumbent Nicolai Tangen among the candidates.

Tangen, who has served in the position since 2020, expressed his intention to seek a second term. The list of applicants also includes former Deputy Minister of Finance Erlend Grimstad and Greenpeace Norway leader Frode Pleym.

Notably, the applications received range from senior financial executives to individuals with less conventional backgrounds, including a stand-up comedian, teenagers, and candidates currently unemployed.

The $1.8 trillion sovereign wealth fund, the world's largest, invests Norway's oil and gas revenue in global assets such as bonds, stocks, real estate, and renewable energy initiatives.
